The Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum
The stimulating and varied Nursery Day provides many opportunities for your child's well-being and development structured around the new Early Years Foundation Stage.
What is the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)?
The EYFS is a stage of development from birth to five years. These years show the greatest growth and learning for all children. The EYFS is based on four important themes which are:
- A Unique Child
- Positive Relationships
- Enabling Environments
- Learning and Development
Each theme is linked to an important Principle:
A Unique Child
- Every child is a competent learner from birth who can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.
Positive Relationships
- Children learn to be strong and independent from a base of loving and secure relationships with parents and/or a key person.
Enabling Environments
- The environment plays a key role in supporting and extending children's development and learning.
Learning and Development
- Children develop and learn in different ways and at different rates and all areas of Learning and Development are equally important and inter-connected.
Young children learn best through play and Early Years Practioners will be able to provide your child with appropriate play and learning experinces of their stage of development and help them develop new skills and work towards the Early Learning Goals in the following areas:
- Personal, Social & Emotional Development.
- Language, Literacy & Communication.
- Problem Solving & Numeracy.
- Physical Development.
- Knowledge Understanding of the World.
- Creative Development.

Outdoor Play Space
A secure outdoor play area with a sand pit is available to rear of the Nursery with appropriate play equipment for children for all ages. This includes a safe all weather play surface with canopy and slide with a tarmac area for bikes, cars and other activities that are planned of outside. High levels of supervision are maintained at all times.
We place great emphasis on a child's physical development. As well as the outdoor play space there is close access to local parks, play areas and the countryside. Outdoor games, actitivies and walks will all be provided wit higher staff ratios to ensure the children's safety and enjoyment.
Our unique position in the centre of the village provides many learning opportunities for the children, e.g visiting local shops, the village library, a small soft tarmac play area at the local park and generally finding out about the environment.
